Reputation Consensus Mechanism for Blockchain Based on Information-Centric Networking

Published on 2025-03-11 by Yufei Zhou, Rui Han, Yang Li @MDPI

Abstract: The integration of blockchain with Information-Centric Networking (ICN) enhances content distribution efficiency in areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G/6G communications. This integration implies that the network state information of ICN can significantly impact consensus efficiency. However, the Ethereum Casper FFG consensus algorithm overlooks the network heterogeneity among consensus nodes, leading to a potential bottleneck in consensus efficiency, especially when nodes with inf[...]

Our summary: Integration of blockchain with ICN improves content distribution efficiency in IoT and 5G/6G communications. Proposed multidimensional reputation model evaluates ICN consensus nodes. RepuICN enhances Casper FFG algorithm by selecting higher-reputation nodes for block propagation.

Enhanced Anomaly Detection in IoT Through Transformer-Based Adversarial Perturbations Model

Published on 2025-03-10 by Saher Zia, Nargis Bibi, Samah Alhazmi, Nazeer Muhammad, Afnan Alhazmi @MDPI

Abstract: Ensuring data security in IoT systems requires effective anomaly detection, particularly in multivariate time series data generated by sensor networks. This study introduces a transformer-based method to detect anomalies by capturing complex temporal patterns and long-range dependencies. The model adapts to diverse anomaly types across datasets, leveraging adversarial perturbations to enhance robustness and accuracy. Integration of the Streaming Peaks Over Threshold (SPOT) mechanism further impr[...]

A Lightweight Time Synchronization Scheme for High-Speed Mobile Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

Published on 2025-03-10 by Chenyu Zhang, Huabing Wu @MDPI

Abstract: Time synchronization is a crucial element of cooperativity among underwater acoustic sensor networks (UWASNs), and it plays an indispensable role in the application of and research into UWASNs. Although plenty of previous studies on time synchronization for UWASNs have been proposed and applied, most of them cannot perform well when the nodes have high mobility, and they are characterized by low energy efficiency. Tri-Message is a scheme proposed for networks in high-latency and resource-constra[...]

Our summary: Lightweight time synchronization scheme for high-speed mobile UWASNs, Doppler-shift-estimating method for propagation delay, Underwater spread-spectrum method for signal receiving, High energy efficiency.

Ganoderic Acid Ameliorates Ulcerative Colitis by Improving Intestinal Barrier Function via Gut Microbiota Modulation

Published on 2025-03-10 by Yuwei Ye, Abudumijiti Abulizi, Yukun Zhang, Feng Lu, Yongpan An, Chaoqun Ren, Hang Zhang, Yiming Wang, Dongmei Lin, Dan Lu, Min Li, Baoxue Yang @MDPI

Abstract: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic and recurrent gastrointestinal disease that affects millions of humans worldwide and imposes a huge social and economic burden. It is necessary to find safe and efficient drugs for preventing and treating UC. The aim of this study was to determine whether ganoderic acid (GA), the main bioactive components of Ganoderma lucidum, has preventive and therapeutic effect on UC in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced UC mouse model. Our experimental results showed [...]

A Case Study of İzmir

Published on 2025-03-10 by Nurdan Erdo?an @MDPI

Abstract: Understanding the impacts of land use/land cover (LULC) changes on ecological processes is essential for addressing biodiversity loss, habitat fragmentation, and climate change. This study analyzes the effects of LULC changes on habitat quality and landscape connectivity in İzmir, Turkey’s third-largest city, using the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs Habitat Quality (InVEST HQ) model, Conefor 2.6 connectivity analysis, and Circuitscape 4.0 res[...]

Our summary: Understanding LULC impacts on habitat quality and connectivity in İzmir, Turkey using InVEST HQ, Conefor 2.6, and Circuitscape 4.0 models. Analysis of CORINE Land Cover data from 1990 to 2018 shows increasing artificial surfaces, stable high-quality habitat areas, and intensified fragmentation. Connectivity analysis identifies critical ecological corridors, but resistance to movement hinders connectivity-supporting corridors. Integration of spatial modeling in urban planning and conservation strategies is crucial to mitigate habitat loss and fragmentation.
