A Generalized Fick’s Flux with Caputo Derivative

Published on 2026-02-03 by N. A. Shah, Khalid Masood, Dumitru Vieru @MDPI

Abstract: The present study investigates the generalized dispersion of a solute in an incompressible MHD flow via a rectangular channel with injectable or suctioned walls. The mathematical model of dispersion suggests a distinct type of mass flux expressed as a fractional partial differential equation based on the time-fractional Caputo derivative. The mass flow in the model under investigation is determined by both the concentration gradient and its historical evolution. A constant external magnetic fiel[...]

Our summary: This study presents a mathematical model for solute dispersion in incompressible MHD flow using a fractional partial differential equation. The model incorporates the time-fractional Caputo derivative and analyzes the effects of various parameters on mass flux. Analytical solutions for solute concentration are derived and examined through numerical simulations.

Localization and Expression of Aquaporin 0 (AQP0/MIP) in the Tissues of the Spiny Dogfish (Squalus acanthias)

Published on 2026-01-28 by Christopher P. Cutler, Casi R. Curry, Fallon S. Hall, Tolulope Ojo @MDPI

Abstract: The aquaporin 0 (AQP0)/major intrinsic protein of eye lens (MIP) cDNA was cloned and sequenced. Initial studies of the tissue distribution of mRNA expression proved to be incorrect. Subsequent experiments showed that AQP0 mRNA is expressed strongly in the eye with moderately strong expression in the kidneys and some expression was seen in the brain and muscle tissue, and very low expression in the esophagus/fundic stomach. Another set of PCR reactions with five times the amount of cDNA additiona[...]

Our summary: AQP0 mRNA is predominantly expressed in the eye, with moderate levels in the kidneys and low levels in other tissues. A custom polyclonal antibody was developed to detect AQP0 protein, revealing specific staining patterns in various tissues. The findings suggest AQP0 may function as a water channel and play a role in cell-cell adhesion in certain tissues.
