Game-Theoretic Analysis of Policy Impacts in Competition Between Reverse Supply Chains Involving Traditional and E-Channels

Published on 2025-02-18 by Asra Aghaei, Fulin Cai, Teresa Wu @MDPI

Abstract: Smart cities aim to enhance the quality of life by advancing infrastructure, leveraging technology, and promoting sustainability, balancing environmental, societal, and economic needs for long-term efficiency. Given resource scarcity and environmental regulations, advanced supply chains play a crucial role in developing smart cities by adopting the circular economy concept, which emphasizes maximizing resource efficiency through recycling and remanufacturing. This study delves into the competiti[...]

Our summary: This study analyzes the competition between traditional and e-channels in reverse supply chains within the context of smart cities, focusing on economic and environmental outcomes under different policy settings. It highlights the importance of aligning economic and environmental goals through tailored strategies to optimize supply chain performance.

A Sustainable Approach

Published on 2025-02-07 by Dmaris Nez-Gmez, Alejandro Andy Maci-Vzquez, Carlos Gimnez-Valero, Juan Jos Martnez-Nicols, Pilar Legua, Pablo Melgarejo @MDPI

Abstract: The Mediterranean region faces significant water scarcity, a challenge intensified by climate change, impacting both agricultural productivity and water quality. High sodium levels in irrigation water compromise soil structure, leading to reduced crop yields and economic strain. This study investigates the use of sustainable adsorbents derived from agricultural residues (almond shell, eggshell, and pumice) for the removal of sodium from irrigation water. These materials, widely available in the [...]

Our summary: Study investigates biosorbents for sodium removal from irrigation water in Mediterranean region. Central Composite Rotational Design used to optimize parameters. Adsorption adheres to pseudo-second order model. Biowaste-derived adsorbents show potential for sustainable agriculture.

Interesting read on circular economy patents. But arent we overlooking the implementation challenges in developing countries? Thoughts?

    2. Arabella Santana

Interesting read! But can anyone clarify how these patents will practically impact the growth of the circular economy?

    3. Nova

Interesting read, but isnt a patent system counterproductive to a fully circular economys concept of resource sharing? Thoughts?

      1. Fabrice

Patent system drives innovation, essential even in circular economies. Thoughts are for progress, not stagnation.
