Made by extruding metal dies, either by cold or hot forming, the gas cylinders initially made of steel, are now made also in aluminum when the portability and the light gas package matter. As these containers have potentially to resist extremely high gas pressure, both the raw material, its transformation, and handling require a high level of expertise and quality.
This traditional process, yet extremely technical, is demonstrated in these two videos of some of the world’s biggest companies in gas cylinder manufacturing.
Worthington

Luxfer
The technical part starts at 3:30
The end of the video shows also briefly the composite cylinder wrapping process.

Interesting read! Does anyone know if Worthington uses the same manufacturing techniques as Luxfer for their gas cylinders?
