Thermal energy storage
L'accumulo di energia termica (TES) utilizza vari meccanismi per una gestione efficiente del calore e per l'ottimizzazione delle prestazioni in progettazione del prodotto e ingegneria.

L'accumulo di energia termica (TES) cattura calore o freddo attraverso tre meccanismi fondamentali: accumulo sensibile in materiali come acqua, roccia o sali fusi; accumulo latente tramite transizioni di fase nei materiali a cambiamento di fase (PCM); e accumulo termochimico tramite reazioni reversibili in idruri metallici, zeoliti o sistemi a ciclo di calcio. La capacità di accumulo, l'efficienza del ciclo di carica-scarica, la ritenzione di exergia e la gestione delle perdite termiche definiscono le prestazioni del sistema su scale temporali che vanno dal tamponamento diurno all'accumulo interstagionale.
