Thermal energy storage
El almacenamiento de energía térmica (TES) utiliza varios mecanismos para una gestión eficiente del calor y una optimización del rendimiento en diseño de producto y la ingeniería.

El almacenamiento de energía térmica (TES) captura calor o frío mediante tres mecanismos fundamentales: almacenamiento sensible en materiales como agua, roca o sales fundidas; almacenamiento latente a través de transiciones de fase en materiales de cambio de fase (PCM); y almacenamiento termoquímico mediante reacciones reversibles en hidruros metálicos, zeolitas o sistemas de ciclo de calcio. La capacidad de almacenamiento, la eficiencia del ciclo de carga y descarga, la retención de exergía y la gestión de las pérdidas térmicas definen el rendimiento del sistema en escalas de tiempo que van desde el almacenamiento diurno hasta el almacenamiento intertemporal.

Los contextos de integración abarcan energía solar concentrada Suministro eléctrico mediante configuraciones de dos tanques de sales fundidas, redes de calefacción urbana, recuperación de calor residual industrial y refrigeración por absorción.
