Vertical farming
Vertical farming utilizes advanced indoor cultivation techniques to optimize resource efficiency and year-round crop production.

Vertical farming employs multi-layered indoor cultivation systems that maximize space efficiency and resource use. Controlled environments regulate light, temperature, humidity, and nutrient delivery through hydroponic or aeroponic methods, enabling year-round crop production. LED lighting tailored to plant photoreceptors optimizes photosynthesis while reducing energy consumption. Integration of sensors and automation enhances monitoring of plant health and growth parameters. Challenges include high initial capital expenditure and energy demands, balanced by reduced water usage and elimination of pesticides.

This is our latest selection of worldwide publications and patents in english on Vertical Farming, between many scientific online journals, classified and focused on controlled environment agriculture, aeroponic, aquaponic, hydroponic, soilless cultivation, LED grow light, nutrient film technique, deep water culture, ebb and flow, vertical drip irrigation, fogponic, plant factory, photosynthetically active radiation, automated nutrient delivery, climate control software, robotic harvesting, vertical stacking, urban agriculture, indoor farming, recirculating aquaculture system, grow trays and nutrient solution.

Evaluation of the Partition of Global Solar Radiation into UVA, PAR, and NIR Components in a Rural Environment

Published on 2025-10-15 by Lucía Moreno-Cuenca, Francisco Navas-Guzmán, Lionel Doppler, Inmaculada Foyo Moreno @MDPI

Abstract: Observational studies in several regions and our dataset indicate changes in global solar radiation (RS); here, we analyze how atmospheric conditions modulate its spectral composition. This study investigates the effects of atmospheric conditions on the spectral composition of global solar radiation (RS) across different wavelength ranges: ultraviolet A (UVA), photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), and near-infrared radiation (NIR), using the ratios UVA/RS, PAR/RS, and NIR/RS. A high-quality[...]

Our summary: This study evaluates how atmospheric conditions influence the partitioning of global solar radiation into UVA, PAR, and NIR components. It utilizes an eight-year dataset from a rural site in Central Europe to analyze the spectral ratios and their seasonal patterns. Findings indicate strong correlations between spectral components and global radiation, with significant implications for estimating these components in the absence of direct measurements.
