The UKNI marking is a specific conformity mark for products placed on the market in Northern Ireland (NI). It is not a standalone mark; it must always accompany an EU conformity marking, such as the CE mark. It is required if a product needs mandatory third-party conformity assessment and that assessment is conducted by a UK-based body. It signals this fact to regulators.
The UKNI marking, sometimes referred to as the UK(NI) mark, is a unique outcome of the Northern Ireland Protocol. Its existence is necessary because while Northern Ireland remains part of the UK’s customs territory, it aligns with EU 法规 for goods to prevent a hard border with the Republic of Ireland. This creates a dual-market situation.
