The University of Gothenburg (GU) is one of the largest universities in the Nordic countries with a wide range of courses and programmes, making it a comprehensive and research-intensive university. The university was founded as Gothenburg University College in 1891 and merged with a number of previously independent higher education institutions in Gothenburg.
