FEMTOPRINT SA is a Swiss high-tech contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) founded in 2013 as a spin-off of the European FEMTOPRINT project. Headquartered in Agno (Canton of Ticino), with an additional branch in Neuchâtel, the company specializes in 3D ultrafast laser micro-fabrication and precision processing of glass and fused silica microdevices.

The company provides dedicated Design for Manufacturing (DFM) services to bridge laboratory prototyping and large-scale industrial production. By combining proprietary 3D laser micro-machining with process-aware modeling and simulation, FEMTOPRINT assesses tolerances, yield constraints, and monolithic feature integration early in the design cycle to prevent costly production failures and streamline volume ramp-up.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Framework: Process-aware modeling, yield optimization, thermal/mechanical simulation, tolerance adjustments, and monolithic functionality design to avoid manufacturing bottlenecks in volume production.
3D Laser Glass Micro-Fabrication: Sub-micron 3D laser writing, selective chemical etching, and micro-structuring in fused silica, borosilicate, and specialized optical glasses with ±1 µm precision and surface roughness down to Sa ≤ 10 nm.
Component Capabilities: Fabrication of optical connectivity components, waveguides, microlenses, integrated fiber optics, hermetic packages, ion traps for quantum computing, and microfluidic channels.
Contract Development & Manufacturing: Rapid prototyping with low minimum order quantities (MOQ), design verification, cleanroom handling, assembly, and serial wafer-scale manufacturing.
