FADA-CATEC (Centro Avanzado de Tecnologías Aeroespaciales) is an aerospace technology center managed by the Andalusian Foundation for Aerospace Development (FADA), based in Aerópolis, La Rinconada (Seville), Spain. With a team of more than 60 specialized engineers and researchers, CATEC develops, tests, and validates technologies across aerospace materials and processes, avionics, and unmanned systems.

Certified under EN 9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001, CATEC maintains cutting-edge laboratories supporting qualification and research projects for entities such as the European Space Agency (ESA), Airbus Defence & Space, and aerospace tier-1 suppliers.

CATEC provides advanced laboratory testing and validation services for aerospace materials, hardware, and payloads:

  • HALT / HASS Environmental Chamber: Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) capability to simulate life cycles, assess operating and destruct limits, and evaluate COTS space systems under extreme stresses.
  • Thermal & Vacuum Cycling: Thermal cycling under ambient atmosphere and high-vacuum conditions to validate payload and component resilience against space temperature cycles.
  • Climatic & Altitude Testing: Altitude chambers and environmental test equipment replicating extreme low pressures, rapid temperature shifts, and humidity combinations.
  • Mechanical & Structural Testing: Static and dynamic fatigue test machines up to 4,000 kN, modal analysis, impact testing (CEAST 9350), and digital image correlation (DIC) for 3D strain mapping.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Industrial computed tomography (X-ray CT), ultrasonic phased array, infrared thermography, and laser shearography for structural integrity and failure analysis.
