CAO Concept is a French electronics design bureau founded in 1987, headquartered in Angers with secondary offices in Nantes. In 2017, the company joined WAE Group (West Advanced Electronic Group), an industrial federation combining specialized entities in electronics CAD design, test bench manufacturing (Quasar Concept), mechanical industrialization (Seretec), and series contract manufacturing (SNEES).

The company specializes in electronic CAD (Computer-Aided Design), schematic capture, PCB layout, and rapid prototyping. Operating under an ISO 9001 certified quality system, CAO Concept handles complex board layout projects for high-reliability sectors, integrating manufacturing (DFM) and testing (DFT) constraints directly into design workflows.

CAO Concept provides end-to-end electronic design and routing engineering services, covering:

  • Preliminary Design & Schematic Capture: Component library creation (custom schematics and footprints), bill of materials (BOM) management, and electrical schematic data entry.
  • PCB Layout & Routing: High-density multilayer routing up to 36 layers, four levels of microvias, boards up to 6.35 mm thickness and 505 mm width, rigid, Flex, and Flex-Rigid technologies, and Insulated Metal Substrates (SMI).
  • High-Speed & Power Routing: Differential impedance matching, length matching/propagation delay control, high-current power distribution, and EMC design rule compliance.
  • ECAD Software Suites: Toolchain mastery across Cadence, Siemens EDA (Mentor Graphics / PADS), Altium Designer, and Zuken.
  • Prototyping & DFM: Internal wiring workshop in Angers for fast-turnaround assembly, DFM/DFT verification, and generation of full production packages (Gerber, Excellon, ODB++, DXF, IDF, and ASCII exports).
