Transmission of EM Waves Passing Through a Multilayer Structure

Published on 2026-01-28 by Vanja Mandri?, Slavko Rup?i?, Bogdan Pavkovi?, Ismail Baxhaku @MDPI

Abstract: This article investigates the behavior of an electromagnetic field passing through a composite material—a multilayered structure. The material consists of a dielectric material polymethyl methacrylate (acrylic, plexiglass) to which one or more layers of conductive paint are applied to attenuate the field strength. This field attenuation is possible precisely because of the chemical structure of the paint, which contains carbon-based particles and is therefore very successful in its[...]

Our summary: This article examines the transmission of electromagnetic waves through a multilayer structure. It focuses on the effect of conductive paint layers on field strength attenuation. Simulations and measurements confirm the effectiveness of the composite material in reducing the electromagnetic field.

Multiscale Synergistic Investigation on the Mechanical and Tribological Performances of Graphene-Reinforced PEEK/PTFE Composites

Published on 2026-01-23 by Yan Wang, Kaiqi Dong, Henan Tang, Bin Yang, Shijie Wang @MDPI

Abstract: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a self-lubricating material but has poor wear resistance. The wear resistance of the composites was enhanced by the incorporation of polyetheretherketone (PEEK), whereas the friction-reducing performance was compromised, thus resulting in an inherent trade-off between wear resistance and lubricity. Graphene nanosheets (GNSs) with high strength and lubricity were introduced as a reinforcement for PEEK/PTFE composites. Composite specimens with varying GNS contents[...]

Our summary: The study investigates the mechanical and tribological properties of graphene-reinforced PEEK/PTFE composites. Incorporating graphene nanosheets enhances wear resistance while maintaining lubricity. Molecular dynamics simulations reveal the mechanisms behind improved performance and optimal graphene content.
