A Rheological Study of the High-Temperature Properties of Fast-Melting SBS/Epoxy-Modified Asphalt Binders

Published on 2025-02-22 by Lei Feng, Xinyong Zhang, Tianyu Sha, Decai Wang, Ben Niu, Riran Wang, Xiyang Hou @MDPI

Abstract: A fast-melting epoxy resin styrene–butadiene–styrene composite modifier (ER-SBS-T) was utilized for the rapid modification of an asphalt binder. The effect of this novel fast-melting modifier on high-temperature performance is not supported by any pertinent investigations. First, the penetration, softening points, and 60 °C kinematic viscosity of the asphalt samples were tested. In addition, these asphalt samples were subjected to multiple stress creep rec[...]

Our summary: The study investigates the high-temperature properties of fast-melting SBS/Epoxy-modified asphalt binders using a novel composite modifier. Results show significant improvement in performance, with the Cross rheological model being the most suitable for determining zero-shear viscosity.

Posture Control of Hydraulic Flexible Second-Order Manipulators Based on Adaptive Integral Terminal Variable-Structure Predictive Method

Published on 2025-02-22 by Jianliang Xu, Zhen Sui, Feng Xu @MDPI

Abstract: As operational scenarios become more complex and task demands intensify, the requirements for the intelligence and automation of manipulators in industry are increasing. This work investigates the challenge of posture tracking control for hydraulic flexible manipulators by proposing a discrete-time integral terminal sliding mode predictive control (DITSMPC) method. First, the proposed method develops a second-order dynamic model of the manipulator using the Lagrangian dynamic strategy. Second, a[...]

Investigation of Trajectory Tracking Control in Hip Joints of Lower-Limb Exoskeletons Using SSA-Fuzzy PID Optimization

Published on 2025-02-22 by Wei Li, Xiaojie Wei, Dawen Sun, Siyu Zong, Zhengwei Yue @MDPI

Abstract: The application of lower-limb exoskeleton robots in rehabilitation is becoming more prevalent, where the precision of control and the speed of response are essential for effective movement tracking. This study tackles the challenge of optimizing both control accuracy and response speed in trajectory tracking for lower-limb exoskeleton hip robots. We introduce an optimization strategy that integrates the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA) with fuzzy Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control. Thi[...]

Our summary: Optimization strategy integrates SSA with fuzzy PID control for trajectory tracking in lower-limb exoskeleton hip robots, improving control accuracy and response speed. Experimental results show significant improvements in both response times and tracking accuracy compared to traditional PID and fuzzy PID control. This approach offers a more efficient solution for rehabilitation training in individuals with lower-limb impairments.

Simulation of Control Process of Fluid Boundary Layer on Deposition of Travertine Particles in Huanglong Landscape Water Based on Computational Fluid Dynamics Software (CFD)

Published on 2025-02-22 by Xinze Liu, Wenhao Gao, Yang Zuo, Dong Sun, Weizhen Zhang, Zhipeng Zhang, Shupu Liu, Jianxing Dong, Shikuan Wang, Hao Xu, Hongwei Chen, Mengyu Xu @MDPI

Abstract: This research explores the distribution, transport, and deposition of calcium carbonate particles in the colorful pools of the Huanglong area under varying hydrodynamic conditions. The study employs Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) for real-time measurements of flow field velocity and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze particle behavior. The findings reveal that under horizontal flow conditions, the peak concentration of calcium carbonate escalated to 1.06%, representing a[...]

The Local Path Planning Algorithm for Amphibious Robots Based on an Improved Dynamic Window Approach

Published on 2025-02-21 by Xiaoqiang Dai, Chengye Liu, Qiang Lai, Xin Huang, Qingjun Zeng, Ming Liu @MDPI

Abstract: The autonomous navigation capability of amphibious robots in complex water–land environments is a key technology. However, with the existing local path planning methods, it is difficult to meet the autonomous navigation needs of amphibious robots. To address the shortcomings of unreachable targets, poor adaptability, and limited planning range in a water–land environment, this study proposes a local path planning method based on the improved dynamic window approach (I[...]

Our summary: The study proposes a local path planning method for amphibious robots based on the Improved Dynamic Window Approach to enhance autonomous navigation in complex water-land environments. The approach includes a water-land hybrid kinematic model, obstacle expansion method, and adaptive algorithms for obstacle avoidance, resulting in improved task completion time, algorithm runtime, and path length.

Trajectory Compression Algorithm via Geospatial Background Knowledge

Published on 2025-02-21 by Yanqi Fang, Xinxin Sun, Yuanqiang Zhang, Jumei Zhou, Hongxiang Feng @MDPI

Abstract: The maritime traffic status is monitored through the Automatic Identification System (AIS) installed on vessels. AIS data record the trajectory of each ship. However, due to the short sampling interval of AIS data, there is a significant amount of redundant data, which increases storage space and reduces data processing efficiency. To reduce the redundancy within AIS data, a compression algorithm is necessary to eliminate superfluous points. This paper presents an offline trajectory compression [...]
