Vat Photopolymerization of CeO2-Incorporated Hydrogel Scaffolds with Antimicrobial Efficacy

Published on 2025-03-02 by Nelly Aimelyne Mpuhwe, Gyu-Nam Kim, Young-Hag Koh @MDPI

Abstract: We herein demonstrate the utility of gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA)/poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA)–cerium oxide (CeO2) hydrogel inks for manufacturing hydrogel scaffolds with antimicrobial efficacy by vat photopolymerization. For uniform blending with GelMA/PEGDA hydrogels, CeO2 nanoparticles with a round shape were synthesized by the precipitation method coupled with calculation at 600 °C. In addition, they had highly crystalline phases and the desired chemical[...]

Our summary: GelMA/PEGDA-CeO2 hydrogel inks were used to manufacture hydrogel scaffolds with antimicrobial efficacy. CeO2 nanoparticles were synthesized for uniform blending and outstanding antimicrobial efficacy. GelMA/PEGDA-CeO2 hydrogel scaffolds with different CeO2 contents were characterized for optimal properties.

A Study of the Hall Effect on Doped and Undoped Praseodymium Nickelate Perovskite Thin Films and the Impact of the Reduction Process

Published on 2025-03-01 by Alex Misiak, Mufeed Keenari, Yohann Breard, Wilfrid Prellier, Alain Pautrat, Adrian David @MDPI

Abstract: PrNiO3 and Pr0.8Sr0.2NiO3 epitaxial thin films were deposited by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on different substrates and studied for Hall effect and resistivity behavior. Conductive behavior is observed in the doped composition, and a normal Hall effect allows to determine charge carrier’s density and mobility. The doped compositions show a high concentration of charge carriers (≈1023 cm−3 at 300 K), and it appears that they can be controlled by the st[...]

Effect of Holding Temperature on Wear and Corrosion Resistance of Rare Earth Oxide Thermally Diffused Zinc Coatings

Published on 2025-03-01 by Ruolei Chen, Wei Liu, Zeyang Wang, Biao Xie, Zeng Yi, Zhiyuan Wang, Jingwei Xiao, Jian Gu, Kaiming Wang @MDPI

Abstract: The challenging wind conditions surrounding power transmission lines exacerbate the wear and corrosion of transmission line fittings. Thermal diffusion galvanizing technology, a novel method for obtaining galvanizing layers, significantly enhances the wear and corrosion resistance of metal components, thereby extending their service life. Holding temperature plays a critical role in determining the performance of the thermally diffused zinc coating. In this study, we prepared thermally diffused [...]

Influence of La/Al Doping via Magnetron Sputtering on the Mechanical and Tribological Properties of TiN Coatings

Published on 2025-02-28 by Weihang Chang, Hongfeng Zhang, Changling Tian, Yujun Xue, Gang Liu @MDPI

Abstract: Adding alloying elements to binary nitrides enables the design of hard and tough coatings. To improve the mechanical and tribological performances of TiN-based coatings, La atoms were added to TiAlN coatings to form TiAlLaN coatings. Magnetron sputtering was conducted to prepare the TiAlLaN coatings. Thereafter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), nano-indentation, and a tribometer were utilized to test their microstructure, phases, and mechanical and tribological perfor[...]
