Synthesis, Luminescent and Antibacterial Properties of Sol-Gel TiO2/TeO2/Nb2O5 Powders
Published on 2025-02-21 by Kalina Ivanova, Albena Bachvarova-Nedelcheva, Reni Iordanova, Angelina Stoyanova, Petia Petrova, Lilia Yordanova, Iliana Ivanova @MDPI
Abstract: The present paper deals with the synthesis, characterization, and properties of sol-gel-derived TiO2/TeO2/Nb2O5 nanopowders. The gels were prepared using a combination of organic [Ti (IV) n-butoxide, Nb (V) ethoxide (C10H25NbO5)] and inorganic [telluric acid (H6TeO6)] precursors. The aging of gels was performed in air for several days in order to enable further hydrolysis. The phase formation of the gels was investigated by XRD upon heating in the temperature range of 200–700 &[...]
Our summary: Synthesis, characterization, and properties of TiO2/TeO2/Nb2O5 nanopowders. Gels prepared using organic and inorganic precursors, aged in air, and heat-treated to form crystalline phases. UV-Vis and photoluminescence analyses, photocatalytic activity, and antibacterial properties against E. coli demonstrated. Prospective environmental catalysts.

Parameter Design for Inter-Satellite Laser Link Acquisition Under Weak Light Conditions
Published on 2025-02-20 by Mengyang Zhao, Jia Shen, Juan Wang, Pan Li, Ruihong Gao, Ziren Luo @MDPI
Abstract: For the Taiji program or other LISA-like space-based gravitational wave (GW) detection missions, establishing laser links is a prerequisite for entering the normal science mode. There has been a lack of in-depth research on inter-satellite link acquisition under weak light and low-speed conditions. In this paper, we comprehensively analyze the impact of key parameters, including scan speed, track width, acquisition camera integration time, and jitter, on the acquisition process. By introducing l[...]

Formation Mechanism and Motion Characteristics of Multiple Jets in Spherical Section Free Surface Electrospinning
Published on 2025-02-19 by Jing Yin, Lan Xu @MDPI
Abstract: In this study, during the efficient preparation of nanofibers using a spherical section free surface electrospinning (SSFSE) device with different sphere radii, the formation mechanism and motion characteristics of multiple jets were thoroughly investigated through the numerical simulation method. The mechanical model of multiple jets was established, and the key role of electric field intensity in the formation and motion of jets was defined; in addition, the relationship between the jet initia[...]

Review of Conductive Reciprocating Liquid Metal Magnetohydrodynamic Generators
Published on 2025-02-17 by Lingzhi Zhao, Aiwu Peng @MDPI
Abstract: Reciprocating liquid metal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) power generation is a new MHD power generation method in which the working fluid is a single-phase liquid metal with a low melting point and high conductivity. The internal combustion stroke of automobiles, ocean waves, sound waves and other reciprocating external forces drive the liquid metal to flow back and forth in an applied magnetic field, generating single-phase alternating current (AC) energy. Reciprocating liquid metal MHD (LMMHD) pow[...]

Generalized Solvent Effect on the Fluorescence Performance of Spiropyran for Advanced Quick Response Code Dynamic Anti-Counterfeiting Sensing
Published on 2025-02-12 by Junji Xuan, Lingjie Chen, Jintao Tian @MDPI
Abstract: Spiropyran has an attractive and mysterious fluorescence switch and dual-color conversion characteristics, as it exhibits both aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) in solvents and fluorescence enhancement in polymer matrices. The explanation for this phenomenon has always been of great controversy. Hence, the solvent effect on the emission of spiropyran (SP) was investigated in 16 solvents. By means of molecular orbital theory and the Jablonski diagram, several special parameters (e.g., Hansen sol[...]

Neural Network Modeling of CuO/Au Hybrid Nanofluid Thermal Performance with Slip Effects for Advanced Process Applications
Published on 2025-02-12 by Jyothi Kotike, Omprakash Beedalannagari, Leelavathi Rekapalli, Muhammad Usman, Kalyani Radha Kadavakollu @MDPI
Abstract: This study explores transient magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) heat and mass transfer in the flow of a hybrid nanofluid over a stretching surface, considering both steady and unsteady scenarios. The investigation incorporates chemical reactions, slip boundary conditions, and the effects of thermal radiation. The hybrid nanofluid, composed of copper oxide (CuO) and gold (Au) nanoparticles in a water-based fluid, demonstrates enhanced thermal performance compared with base fluids. Key findings reveal tha[...]
